ZF S542-S547 clutch compatibility
Can the clutches be changed between S547 & S542 transmissions, assuming you use the corresponding flywheel? I've done some research, and I know that the factory used different clutch assemblies & flywheels, but I want to know if an S547 clutch & flywheel would work on my S542.
Thanks in advance, if anyone knows.

I don't know if I am missing what your question is .... I am still running the same 11" clutch I had behind my old M5OD, only now it is behind an S5-47 ZF 5spd. All I changed was the transmission, and I did not change ANY clutch components. I am not saying that I know for sure, but the clutches for the S5-42 and the S5-47 should be the same. Why don't you just buy the right clutch? Not being an A$$, just wondering.

dialaclutch.com and auto wreckers are listing different clutches & flywheels for S542 and S547. S547 (stock) clutch is 11 9/16" OD, S542 (stock) clutch is 11" OD.
That's encouraging that you used stock M5OD clutch with the S547 though.
Why don't I just buy the right one? Found an unused S547 clutch for less $$ in the classifieds!
