Question where to install the thermocouple

Well I am new to this forum. So why not jump on in and start up a battle. I have found myself in a dilemma. I am installing a Juice mod and a 4” down pipe cat back exhaust and new air intake

Of course no sane diesel owner would add a power mod without adding a EGT gauge (oh and Power Boost for fun).

Now for the decision that we can all argue about. Where should I tap in for the EGT pickup (thermocouple). Pre turbo or post turbo.

If I go pre turbo where is the best place to tap in and do I need to remove the manifold to assure no metal shavings get into the turbo?

Any information and insight would be helpful.

Jeff…

I put mine pre turbo on the driver's side manifold. Straight up from underneath. I drilled mine with the truck running but that's your call.
