SWAMPER SSR'S!

Legendary TSL tread design, low maintenance when it comes to highway air pressure, don't develope flat spots, and have a tighter tread pattern so a lil bit (not a lot) less roaring noise.

Swampers suck.

MT/Rs are good, BFG mud terrains are excellent too.

PRO-COMP!!! I've got 40k on mine and still have about 1/2 the tread left. Unfortunately most of the miles were on the highway due to job commute. No complaints in the dirt/mud/sand areas though. I think they look and sound good.

If you're talking about street manners then I'd agree that they aren't the best. TSLs anyways. It's not fair to classify ALL Swampers as crappy street tires. I've heard decent things about SSRs and Truxuss.

If you want the best all around performance (good street wear/manners, excellent mud performance) go with Ground Hawgs.

IMO, the three best (over the counter) mud tires in order of off-road performance.

1. Swamper Boggers.
2. Swamper TSLs.
3. Ground Hawgs.

I hear your pain, rlh........... I had to reply to stick up for Swampers.

Well, he said streetable, and you sacrifice a lot of street performance to go to Swampers, whereas the MT/R or BFG MT are still very good on both surfaces.

Me, I was an idiot and bought ATs.

Streetable:

BFGs followed by Buckshot mudders. Ground Hawgs are a pretty good compromise too though they tend to wear faster. I have never used MT/Rs.

On your truck it needs to be radials with a high load rating and stiff sidewall. Go by that first when picking tires, imo.

I have 35" MTR's on my truck right now. The wear on the street seems to be alot more than any BFG mudders I've ever had. The handling is OK though ,considering the tread design of the tire. Oh yeah, I had tried the Yokohama muds before these, and they were like driving around on a bag of marbles. Absolutley no side wall strength in them at all! Thanks for America's Tire Company's good people swapping them out with 600 miles on them for free to the MTR's.

I am looking at some Nitto Mud Grapplers. 38.5x15.5x18. Not only are they a hel of a mud tire, they have a load rating of almost 4000 punds each.

I started saving for mine!

CJack, what model headers do you have? how did you like the upgrade? what mufflers did you use in your exhaust set up? i want to do the same, get more air in, and more air out. simple mods ya know. nothing crazy like a supercharger.

Bigdawg, I have Edelbrock Nickel headers, and flowmaster mufflers. I like them. I have low restriction cats too, and my 2.5 inch pipes run out just in front of my left rear tire. I like this setup a lot, but I did lose some low end power. I am told that venturis would bring this back. Im going to look into that.

The motor mounts on my truck had to be trimmed to fit the headers.

Overall, even though I put 35s on my truck and kept my 4.1 gears, I have a lot more power than before. My lift rides kind of rough, so I am considering a new 6 inch lift, and the Nitto mud tires.

Wow, reading my previous post, my spelling is aweful.
