Gasket preferences?

Looks like it's time for me to replace the lower intake manifold gaskets, darn it. So far one local shop has offered a Fel-Pro head set for around $45.00. Another shop has a Victor head set for the same price. I haven't checked with $$Ford$$ yet. Anyone have any comments on Fel Pro vs Victor gaskets, or any other good brands?

Thanks

Hi, in my opinion I think the BLUE fel-pro gaskets are the BEST!! Those are the only ones I used in my $8,000 351W engine that is running 9.5:1 compression and kicking out 480 H.P.!!

Well, I went with ford intake and cylinder head gaskets.....about the same price as the ones used in the $8,000 engine.

JUst make sure that when you install the new gaskets, lay a thin bead around each water passage on both sides in order to avoid coolant leaks.

ALSo lay a thin bead along the inside of the lifter valley where the cyl head meets the block (under each corner of where the intake meets the head) and smear it smooth to seal the lifter valley.

When I called Ford a month or so ago and priced the lower intake set, they wanted something like $75. I asked again, same price. Picked up the Felpro blues from AZone for about $10.

After a month of driving a borrowed Jeep (yuck), I think I'm finally going to finish putting the Bronco back together.

Not to sound critical here but if your just replacing the intake gasket, then you dont need a head-set, a head-set comes with head gaskets and you dont have to remove the heads. DW
P.S. i prefer Felpro as well.
