Popping / Knocking sound when braking.
I have a 2000 F350 V10. Just the other day, I started getting a single pop / knock sound when i do a hard brake. I can feel the vibration from it on the floorboard. Sometimes its loud, but can be soft. I replaced the brake pads, and lubed the calipers, but it still seems to do it. My braking power is not affected in any way. Does anyone have any ideas to what I should look for or what would be causing it?
Thanks,

I had a similar problem with my 2000 F250 SD SC PSD. my problem turned out to be my left lower ball joint. I also had a slight wobble to my steering wheel when I was almost stopped, like a warped rotor only it did not vibrate during hard braking and there was no pulsing sensation. to check it you can raise the front end up by the axle and grab your tire at the top and bottom and try to pull out on the bottom. if you get any movement it is probably your ball joint. bad front bearings can also cause the same play but the symptoms are different. hope this helps.

OK, so dumb question but I am having the same sound on my Excursion. How bad is this? Can I wait to change this if it truly is the ball joint or do I need to get this fixed now. What kind of damage can it cause if I continue to drive on this for awhile. I just got done changing my knuckle seal and that was a pain. I would like to wait a little longer so the frustration is not so fresh in my mind.
