truck died and wife is mad, need help
Hey guys, need a little help here. Wife drives our 99 expedition, 4.6 engine. She just called and said she turned a corner about 2 miles from our house and the truck died, check engine light came on. Also said it wasn't shifting right and wouldn't go into 3rd gear. she was able to let off the gas pedal to get it to shift until she turned, when it just dropped in its tracks. If it was my old truck I'd replace the module and be on my way, whats the suggestions for this? Thanks for all the help.
Should also say the starter turns it over but no fire.

Heres an update, Wife got home from work so I quizzed some more. She said when she left the driveway today it had no power, really doggy. she got two miles on the gravel roads until she had to turn towards town, when she turned the corner, it died off and was done. A friend and I drug it home tonight and into my shop. Checked the fuel pump shutoff-ok, checked all the fuses that said anything to do with fuel-all ok. hooked up timing light to plug wires--all were firing. I turned the key to run and tried to listen for a fuel pump but couldn't hear anything. There should be a pump in the tank right? Now its been acting funny shifting for a couple months, but that seems unrelated. But who knows what the computers in these control anymore. Thanks for the suggestions, shes content driving my old blue truck (see the signature) to work this week while I mess with hers. I'm sure she would rather drive my 00 superduty, but I have farther to drive to work, not to mention the gas I save not driving my 79.

OK guys, we'll bring this around and close it up. fuel pump. I didn't need to pull any codes, hook it up to an analyzer, nothing. It was simple internal combustion troubleshooting, all you need is fuel, air, spark, if one is missing, your engine won't run. I think a lot of people nowadays lose track of the simple things when something goes wrong.
