Late 2000 (06-09) F250 vs Sierra SLT 2500- both 4x4 turbo diesels...

Anyone seriously consider the competition before choosing your Ford rig? Or are you "a Ford guy" and didn't consider anything but?

I have always favored Ford trucks, even though I've never owned one. I'm a Toyota 4Runner diehard, having owned 3 of them since 1993. But now that we're looking to haul a 2 horse trailer, I've been searching for the appropriate truck. Being partial to Fords, I have been looking for awhile at all years of F250 diesels. I've learned here that I should avoid the 6.0 and 6.4 L diesels. But since the 6.7L came out in 2011 and those are out of my price range, I'm still looking at 6.0s and 6.4s.

In addition to these F250s, I found a decent 2007 SLT 2500 4x4 turbo diesel with less than 100k miles that I am considering. Anyone have opinions on the SLT compared to the F250 for like years and specs? TIA!

i would never consider a gm to the minuscule front end components.
plus the 6.6 Isuzu diesel is known for injector failures that fill the oil pan with diesel.
they ride like a car.
i prefer a truck, not car.

the 6.0 and 6.4 are very good engines if properly maintained.

‘10 GMC SLT

Owned a 2010 GMC SLT 2500 ccsb 4wd Duramax/Ally for 3yrs and 70k miles. Really liked it. Kept it stock, towed camper and equipment and DD. It had a DPF but still got around 15mpg (10-11 towing 11k) and would edge into the 19’s empty all highway. The ‘07 would be considered most desirable as it has the 6speed ally and no DPF. I have no complaints- good manners, great power plant/tranny combo and mine was dependable. No issues with IFS but my towing was 11-12k and under

a buddy traded his 07 2500 for a 16 F350 when the frame rotted out and started to fold behind the cab......................with 52,000 miles on it.
