New Pictures - Alaska Trip

Just updated my gallery with a few new pictures of my trip to Alaska last year in my 78 Bronc. Please pass on any comments and suggestions, good, bad, or indifferent. Have a bunch more pictures I could post if anyone is interested.

Thumbs up Excellent

Excellent pics, did you have much trouble pulling that trailer? It does look like your over the weight just a tad.

Love the pics, love the bronco! I like the root beer and 70s stripes look! It kinda lends itself to the 70s bronco. Looks like a lot of fun. I was looking thru all your galleries and I have a question. It looks like you swapped out the mirrors for some west coast ones. What ones did you use? Are they junkyard cheapies? I want a set on my truck, and I like how they look on yours. Thanks, Ted

Thanks for the comments all. Those are JC Whitneys' West Coast mirrors. They are available from their catalog but I actually picked up those mirrors from JC's warehouse/store just west of Chicago while on the Alaska trip. Installed them somewhere in South Dakota (along with the HiLighters after hitting a deer). I highly recommend stopping by the JC Whitney store and browsing. They have a lot of good stuff (returns etc) not in the catalog.

I see a bunch of replies snuck by me. I was ready to dress the deer right there and toss it in the cooler but, Steve from Alaska was dead set against it. He's heard lots of stories about the long arm of the ADF&F even though it was a SD deer. Couldn't even figure out who to call (we did try) so we left it for the Highway Patrol to hopefully donate to someone needy.

Actually the trailer being all aluminum was about 2000 lbs under the max for the Bronco. I did have a class 4 receiver originally of a F250, a JC Whitney load levelling hitch (again picked up at the store), and a JC Whitney anti-sway bar. We cruised about 60 mph most of the way and had little trouble even in the mountains. The load leveler and antisway bars made a huge difference. The other item that was real nice was a vintage hydraulic brake controller.

Matilda's still on vacation in Alaska. I've been flying back and forth for work. I plan on driving it back to Texas sometime soon to do a few minor upgrades (351M to 400M, new cam, new interior, etc). Then if my work up there continues, I'll drive it back (less trailer this time). Probably will make a side trip north of the Arctic circle first just for the braggin factor.
