Mixing & Matching Subs

I had two Rockford 10'' subs, being the idiot that I am I punctured one of them. So my question now is can I mix and match subs if they are the same inpedance? My buddy has an extra Kicker 10''.

How bout different sizes of subs?

yeah, you're fine as long as you have the sub in a compatable box

If you mean replace the RF with the Kicker, NO! Totally different subs. You will get some funky ***t coming from them. Never mix different subs, regardless of their impedance. I could actually write an uber response on why not to mix the Kicker with the RF. Either get another Kicker sub, or another RF sub.

I wasn't saying to put the kickir in the RF box
I was saying that if you had 1 RF in a box, and 1 kicker in another box, you could run them off the same amp

if you just put the kicker in the RF box it won't work right
I guess I should've stated it better

Stay with the same subs.....Even if the same power rating/impedence they are going to ask for different power levels at different times which means that is going to tweak your amp...Do yourself a favor and go by 2 10W3 JL's, you'll be happy as hell

I still would never put 2 different subs (regardless of whether they are in seperate enclosures or the same enclosure) in my car. You always want to use identical subs in your car. Due to the fact they are completely different subs, you'll have all kind of frequency response anamolies. Just try to buy a second sub identical to either the Kicker or RF. Being that they are from super huge audio manufacturers, finding a second identical sub should be easy.

I'm looking for a RF sub now to be identical, the sub I have has a peak of 400 W and the one I am looking at has a peak of 200 W with the same impediance will that work?

RF makes several models of sub
if you're going to use the same box, the Thiele-Small parameters have to match, not just the impedence

just another bet of advice. like all the other do not run different subs. the will put a strain on your (like mike says) but they will also play differently and this will make the subs fight each other and cause them to blow much easier. then you will have three blow subs and that just isn't cool.
