I somewhat raced one on the beach one night. The first little heat he won, but I wasn't expecting it and was in 2wd. The second time I won, but not by much. The third time I beat him and we both beat a chevy gasser with an 8 inch lift. I don't know if they were runnin 4wd or not, but I had to. I kept diggin holes in 2wd. That duramax was a little perturbed and sped off then got pulled over.

Talking *****!

POWER STROKE DIESEL

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT FORD IS NOT A SPEED DEMON BUT A WORKHORSE COMPARED TO CHEVY DURAMAX. ANY DIESEL FOR THAT MATTER IS NOT BUILT FOR SPEED BUT FOR TORQUE AND FORD CAN OUT PULL DURAMAX ANYTIME. FORD POWER STROKE 7.3L HAS MORE ***** THAN CHEVY DURAMAX AND NOW WITH THE 6.0L DIESEL IT HAS EVEN MORE ***** WHICH IS WHAT DIESEL WAS MADE FOR. NOT FOR RACING BUT FOR TOWING!

Here is a link to a thread that I started a few weeks ago when I was p*ssed off at my multi-function switch failure. If you check out my post and can make it through my whole rant....in there somewhere I mentioned that I thought the Duramax was way underpowered and got several arguments. Eventually I referenced a recent issue of Truck Trend Magazine who tested both trucks pulling 7200 lb trailers. The Power Stroke was 6.9 seconds FASTER from 0-60 than the Duramax! That's a huge difference. Wouldn't you rather merge onto a freeway and get up to speed 7 seconds faster? I would, and I'm glad I have a PSD.

Oh...almost forgot, here is the link:

the only thing I have heard is that the duromax tranny is nicer, since it will downshift and has a tranny brake, but other then that everyone swears by their PSD

PSD all the way!! I agree that a truck is made for towing, not for winning races, that is what cars are for. I also agree the only nice setup with the Duramax is that Allison makes one good transmission. I'll stay with my PSD!! More torque for my towing needs.

For the most part who can win a drag race with a diesel is irrelevent. Go hook 8,000lbs to the hithc and tell me who can keep his speed on the hill. Thats what matters.

Cool

By saying this I do not support or am a fan of the Durajunk in any way. My magazine ( Peterson's 4wheel & off road ) had an article over a Duramax. They put on a TTS Power Loader II, a tranny upgrade, and 4 inch exhaust. It gave them 106 more HP on race level and 215 more lb-ft of torque on race level. In the 1/4 mile, they made 12.784 s. @ 106.098 mph.

Here is an article out of Four Wheeler comparing the Dodge, Chevy, & Ford diesels.
"Dragstrip numbers only tell so much, however. We wanted to see how the Ford towed in the real world, so we dragged the trailer (7000lbs) up the same grade on the 14 Freeway that the dodge and Chevy had towed up. Here, the advantage of the Ford became apparent. The 6.oL Power Stroke V-8 has an RPM that is 1,000 rpm higher than both Chevy and Dodge. While the Chevy and Dodge would downshift from 2,200 to 3,200 rpm and be at their respective limits, the Ford would do the same but have a 1,00 more rpm available before getting into its redline. This meant that we could tow at 80 to 85 mph up the same grade, where the Chevy and Dodge would do 70. Even at three-quarter throttle, the Super Duty could still manage 75 mph while Chevy and Dodge had to be floored to maintain 70 mph.

This test says alot. The test of pulling has been completed.

if ur gunna be towing why are u worried about blowing the doors off a PSD? i believe satcom hit the nail on the head with that article. load em up and see who will win. my ranking would be PSD, Cummings and Durajunk.

PS: i heard the durajunk was a gas engine redesigned to be a diesel? is this true? if so i guess the general didnt learn from thier last experiment (350 diesel, lmao)...

The original post was about the 7.3PSD. Stock motors, the duramax will trash it every time. If it didn't, don't you think Ford would've made endless "Hemi" like commercials about the weaker 7.3 beating the more powerful dmax?

My 6.0PSD is slower than my 01 dmax was at this point. I assume it'll eventually get there after 10-20k breakin miles but you guys are just doing the put the blinders on, I'm brand loyal thing. The dmax is a strong, quiet, reliable motor and my new 6.0PSD has some big shoes to fill.

I think the 6.0 might tow a little better in that it stays in top gear better on hills. I bought it mostly for towing so it's a good thing that it's winning those shootouts.

The dmax was not designed on a gas motor. Jeez. Where do you guys get this stuff?

I know we got A big problem,, with chev bash -ford bash- dodge,,
I'm going to get a few thing clear,,

1= this past year to many of you jump on the band wagon or copied cat and wantbe ford psd owner,,,this really **** me off,,

because I grew up around ford trucks drove them most of my drivng life time,,

2= I dont know why some of you guys are switching differ brands of trucks for. ford became popular in the 1950s- for farmers ,,constru workers,, oil company,,and other etc, // dodge truck have been a power work horse, truck, since ww2, // chev is a differ story no comment,,

3=you can always tell true ford owner ,,from the wantbe,, true ford owner useing they wait a few yrs before they a new truck,, so all the good and bad points come out ,that yr of truck..

4= do any of you guys know why diesel was built[ power& torque} towing the heavy loads,,

5= compare 6.0 and 7.3 is like 5.0 and 7.5 gas engine,, and the extra valves and computer items,,,is real big piece ####.

p.s one more thing top this off {I got married at ford dealership
back in 1998,, who is loyal now..let start hearing the commments back ..
