Post Automatic door locks

I have a '04 Lariat w/ 5.4 supercrew. When the truck goes into gear and start to move all doors lock. But, the doors never unlock automatically when the truck is put out of gear or the key is turned off. I know this is a little thing but when your in the back seat you must reach up every time to pull up the lock latch. I checked all through the book and cannot find anything about this. Anyone know something different?

The auto door locks do not un lock in park or ignition off.
they do not have have this feather because just pulling
the inside handle unlocks the door.it is not like General
motors.their handles are disconected upon lock.Another
little annoyance we have to put up with.

Just turn off your automatic door locks in your message center.

Hey TycoRodger.....what the hell are you doing driving the truck from the backseat anyway?! Just kidding.....I believe your automatic door locking system is working EXACTLY as it should. I have had several Ford vehicles and they all operate exactly as you described; you must MANUALLY unlock the doors.

My doors acted the same but after i went to a friend and got them to install the brain for the alarm system the dealer had put in but i didnt want to pay for it. After that was installed as soon as i shut off the key all four doors unlock.

Dueman you have an aftermarket alarm.
It cant be done on a stock truck without
the alarm.

This dealer installs the same alarm on all its vehicles, some cheapy i guess, so that explains it not working until the brain was in. DrNo dont you think any alarm should take care of this problem?

Most any quality alarm should have this feature
if installed properly. But tycorodger the original
poster did not say he had an alarm system
installed.So it wont work.

This is a great discussion for me, thanks. My truck did not come with an alarm system. Come to think of it the alarm system was not a factory option. Can it be added aftermarket? Sorry if this is a simple question, I just don't know. I don't want to purchase a cheap $100 alarm system from WalMart. Rodger

Ford sells two systems that would work.
Talk to someone at the dealer who knows
the different options.Make sure they uuderstand
what you want before you purchase one.

Door locks

The doors failing to unlock in the back seats of the SCrew is aggravating. See the manual. The automatic locking is easily turned off using the keypad on the door.

I think his idea is to fix the unlock rather than
defeat the whole auto lock feature.
