Question Hello I want A Ranchero!

I am in South Carolina on The Georgia border. I am currently looking for an early Ranchero, so far I have found one a 1965 and the rust was more than I wanted to go through. I am willing to pay a reasonable price for the right truck. Any leads?
Oh and by the way; this forum looks great and I will be here alot!

Thanks! I'll keep my eyes open and the hooks in the water. If I see one down this way I'll let you know. I can't figure out how to use the pm system here.

The 60 to 65 Rancheros were prone to rust. They were a modified two door station wagon with the back roof cut off. There was little, if any, consideration given to sealing the forward portion of the bed to keep water, yard debris and whatever from settleing in the "rear seat foot wells". Rust in the quarters, floor and rear bulkhead was the result. In the Northwest the term "rust free" and "reasonably priced" are not used when talking about the early Falcon Rancheros. California, and the Southwest, are the places to look for what you want. Ford made a major body change for the 66 model year. The 66 and newer Rancheros do not have the same problems the earlier rigs do. Hope this info helps. Good luck.

Hey Roger thanks,
I have noticed the footwells on the earlier cars, it seems as though I am now leaning toward the 66-69 model years. I have been watching eBay pretty regular lately and also telling everyone I know to keep looking. I have 3 leads to track next week and should be hitting on something soon.
If anyone is interested I am willing to trade a nice 3rd owner 1989 Ranger. Extended cab, two wheel drive 2.9 v-6, Ac, Cruise, toolbox, bedliner new wheels and tires for a ranchero. More details,,just ask me. I still havent figured out the pm system but I have subscribed to this topic. If there is a better place to run this offer please let me know. I will not be back in until Monday but I will check my email.

Hi Sam, There is the classified section that you are welcome to use.
As long as you stay general I am gonna let your thread alone, but the BOSSMAN has a couple of nasty ol junkyard dogs that get off their chains every so often and might want think different.

As long as everyone plays nice here we won't have any problems in this forum, and so far so good.

Cool! Can you post a link to redirect me to the classified section? How about move this whole thread there? No problems here.

Well I may have found a ranchero today. It is a 1970 with a 429 engine. All original,(weathered) but running and driving. Anyone know of what I should and should not be concerned with? I checked it out pretty good and the rust is minimal. It is a Ranchero Squire, woodgrain trim and all of the outer pieces are there,,some of the fiberglass is cracked.
I was not exactly looking for a big block car but this one is in my area.
So now what is the general opinion of a 1970 Ranchero Squire, 2nd owner, ps,ac,power disc brakes with a whole load of N.O.S. parts for around $3000.00? Should I jump or wait?

Hello Samhain..
is it a 4bbl carb setup ?
get the casting number off of the head...
All of the 429 are worth having, and if
you get the right one.. !!!!!..
then goto www.network54.com/hide/forum
thats for the big block guys..
I had found 2 429 in 1970 Lincolns..
1 was a 4bbl, the other a 2bbl... damn me..
you can build a big HP with that motor for
around $2200..
best
dave
ps I found a 1967 with a 289,, white some
rust.. the guy said it ran... Interested??

Hey Sanddoc it is a four barrel (Autolite that looks like a Q-Jet) I'm headed back over there this morning and I hope to get some pics while I'm at it. The spare parts list seems to include a NOS fanshroud, A New Radiator, A perfect tailgate, two spare hubcaps and several odds and ends.
I'm gonna grab the vin and some pics I'll post a link to them once I get them loaded onto my own piece of the web. Now for the 67, how about email me so it does not appear that I am using this topic for something other than discussion?
