Question No Owners Manual - What do I need to know?

I took delivery on 10/25. The truck had 38 miles on it. The window sticker was gone and the owners manual was missing. This was the last '03 on the lot.

Question: Since I haven't got an owners manual yet (dealer to order) what do I need to know? Sounds like I already broke the 'don't tow during the first 1000 miles' part. Is that true? I towed about 6000 lbs for about 100 miles yesterday. Truck only had 450 miles on it then. Used the Tow/Haul mode. It was great. Truck has been great too!

I did have one strange night when I experienced many things I've read on this site. Dead pedal, stuttering at speed, Moped starts, etc. All these things happened during a two hour period and I have not experienced any of them since. Knock on wood!

Just hope I haven't missed any important info from the manual!

And whoever coined the phrase "BBRRRRAAAPPPTTT" did a great job! That's the sound mine makes. So I assume I do not have the latest (Oct) flash. Right?

Hi DaneCalvin

The owner's manuals are available online at the Ford site. Not quite sure where I found them, but all three are there as PDF files (Owners Manual [3.7MB], Maitanance Manual [0.7 MB], and 6.0 L engine manual [0.3 MB]) for 2003 and 2004.

If you cann't find them, send me an E-mail (Corsaro at NRL.Navy.mil, with @ replacing at) and I will E-mail the 2003 set to you.

Enjoy your great truck.

Get one. Read it and adhere to it. There is no substitute.

Coro, I would like the manuals you are talking about if they are more than what came with the truck. I couldn't get the address to work. I have the 03 Super Duty 4X4 6.0 Liter with an auto trans. Thanks........

Hi TMorgan

They are only PDF forms of the three manuals that came with the truck. They are the 2003 "Owners manual", "maintainance manual (schedule)" and "6.0 L diesel owners manual"

DaneCalvin mentioned that his new truck was missing these. Otherwise they are not worth downloading.

I did find one change. The "6.0 L diesel owners manual" is Version 2. The earlier Version 1 has at least one error - it lists the wrong air filter. It specifies the FA-1680 air filter, but that is only used for gas engines. The correct air filter is the FA-1746, as listed in Version 2 of this manual.

If you still want the manual (about 5 MB), send me your E-mail address (at my address listed in the previous).

Thanks for the help everyone. I was able to get one from the dealer after I complained long enough!
