93 F150 4x4 4.9L I6 and Distributor Cap
Hey Folks,
I have the 93 F150 4x4 4.9L Inline 6. I have installed an MSD6A module a while back along with premium plugwires and Distributor Cap (brass connectors). I have since learned from an ignition specialist that I could be getting some crossfire with the small distributor cap that I am using. He suggested getting a cap adapter and using one of the large caps from Blue Streak or Connors. Anyway does anyone know where I can get a cap adapter for my truck?? and the appropriate large dist cap.
Part numbers would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Greg ,
Are you having a problem with the engine missing etc ? I personally have never heard of such an adapter . Plus you couldnt go to a much bigger dist/cap because of the way the dist is installed , youve only got an inch or so from the block. Did the ignition specialist you talked to elaborate on it ? You seem to have a pretty good ignition system , its hard to go wrong with an MSD . The 300's plug wires are all relatively short and shouldnt have a crossfire problem . I have my plug wires in the looms just for neatness . The brass connector cap is much better than the aluminum and the fire should go to the appropiate plug with no trouble .

Paul,
Occasionally I do get what feels like a missfire or something similiar. The ignition specialist didn't know if there was a cap adapter for this dist, but with other vehicles he has used a cap adapter and put on a larger distributor cap. He said that with the power being pumped in by the MSD that you could get crossfiring in the smaller distributor cap. This of course can depend on the advance amount as well. He suggested doing this if I could find a cap adapter that would work. Quite a few folks have done this on Jeep Wranglers and it makes a big difference... of course there are other things changed out on the Jeep as well.
Right now I just am curious if anyone makes a cap adapter for this distributor. Comparing the cap adapter and large dist from my Jeep... it looks like it could fit there..
Thanks for your input.
