Gas pedal sloppyness

Okay, So the pivot point looks a lil worn where the pedal was rideing. so i used pliers to push it over on to the splines so its tight, cause i dont see a way to get this thing off.

Now, wheni reach up under to where the cable is, there is a lot of slack. And i notice it while driveing. when you let off the gas, it takes a second to rev down while the cable retracts itself.

I can adjust this cable tight to the pedal right?
And as for the tension on the cable, I would have to go to the trottle body and make sure that the spring for the cable is lubricated and working properly?

its got about 1 cm of slack. Which isn't to great.
So, it looks like just a pin comming through then a cap. Is there a second cap behind it for pushing the cable back through?

Have you tried lubricating the cable? I think they all have some slack, but if it's lubed and not kinked it should not be a problem. Also, The idle air control valve may be what causes the delay in deceleration when you let off the gas. Think the computer does this to reduce emissions.

I noticed the same thing after I bought my truck. There was no adjustment on the cable. I added spacers between the cable mount and the firewall to take out some slack. Much better response.

I can push the gass pedal and watch the cable stick.
its actually like a complete second befoure it lets off.

I'll look into oiling the cable. if it dosn't retract further then it is right now. I'll probably add spacers on oe of the ends.

Thanks for sugestions.

Dont't use an oil. It'l collect dust and dirt and then ya got bigger headaches.

Get some graphite powder and pour into the ends. work back and forth.
