1999 F150 SC/trailer lightplug/where's blue wire for brakes?

I am to install a electric trailer brake controller in my bros. F150 SC (4.6L auto XLT). I do not have the truck yet and he lives away. He has a 4 wire flat connector. I will change to a 6 round. I can connect the box to a plug under dash but I am trying to trace wires under the hood around the fuse box etc. and get the blue brake wire to the back plug. I'm sure there are fuses/relays for the brake controller underhood. Does Ford have a protocol or written info on installing this type accessory? Does anyone know where that I have to tie into the blue wire?

Normally, I run my own wiring but I use HD F250/F350, gen. flatbeds and he wants things done "differently". I have a 1998 F250LD for reference but wiring may be different. Thanks

You need to get the ford trailer harness. All of the wires you need for a 7 pin installation are in the truck, but difficult to see. If you get the 7 pin trailer harness it will be a plug in installation. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SPLICING IN THE WIRES. There are a couple of fuses to add under the hood but I don't remember exactly which. I would just check the manual, i'm pretty sure its clear in there. Do a search for trailer harness, or trailer wiring. I wrote a pretty detailed description of this before.

However, if you must splice the wires, trace the 4 flat plug back to a connector in the frame. At that connector you will find the blue wire from the truck. You can splice it there.
