I notice some trucks come with clearance lights (on top of the cab) and many do not. I see them on many F250, F350s on up but not on the F150. It does not even seem to be an option.
What is the purpose of clearance lights and is there any legal requiement to have them?

 

I have heard that you have to have them if you are towing something wider than your truck or part of your truck is wider than the cab. Which is why most F250 and F350's and up have then and not F150.
