Front Brakes on 1996 F-150
I have a 1996 Ford F-150 with 47,000 miles and I recently replaced the front rotors and brake pads. The reason I replaced them was because they were pulsing or stopping erratically. The old rotors could not be resurfaced so I bought new ones and new pads, now about 600 miles later, the same thing is happening, is there anyway to stop this or prevent it? Please let me know it is very annoying the entire truck bobs when I stop. Thanks

You might check the brake booster or the reservior. Did you bleed the brakes or not? You might very well have a small leak in your lines causing surges. I mean it seems obvious changing the rotors and pads. Did you change the calipers? In some cases, when you need to change one part of the system, you might as well change all the components at the same time. But I could be wrong. Just thought I'd get you thinking a little.

Its not uncommon to find new brake rotors that will warp in a short time ... they just arent as able to deal with the heat that metalic pads generate . Make sure the caliper slide pins / bolts allow the caliper to move freely & have the rotors resurfaced . Its also possible to have rear brake drums causing brake pulsation problems . Its always a good idea to look at both front & rear brakes whenever the tires are rotated .

This problem I experienced with a new 96 f150 4 x 4 when the truck had only 6000 miles on it. Ford changed out everything on this truck under warrenty. You may have a bad master cyl as it may not be releasing the pads and causing them to overheat and warp the rotors. Also when installing the wheels it is important to follow tourge sequence and not over tighten, this can also warp rotors.
