exhaust options

I just got a 96 F150 4x4,5.0 5 speed, and it has the stock exhaust.just wondering what options there are,and what might be the best route to a good header dual system with no cats.seems like a custom bent system would be costly,so I am looking for aftermarket pre fab pipes, any ideas?

Yea, like in mich, no inspection. =D

I thought there was a little bit of problems with sensors and such though when you put on dual exhaust and things with the ford's?

there's a thread on that elsewhere, gist of which seems to be to place the sensor in a crossover between the 2 sides.

There are oxygen sensor simulators available for removing cats. On the all Fords the post cat o2 sensors need to stay in place because the simulators need to use the heater element from the o2 sensor. What they do is just respond correctly when the computer checks to see if cats are working.

I haven't seen any aftermarket sexhaust systems yet for doing the complete dual from the headers/manifolds back, so a custom job may be what you need to do.

Do the complete dual, it made a huge difference on my truck.

In your situation, I would get a set of full length headers, the muffler of your choice, and put it our 45 degrees in front of the rear tire. Custom job shouldn't cost too much.

for a few more hp you don't mine polluting the
air? there are high flow cat systems.. how
do you think a small 302 Ford motor
putting out over 300hp meets smog ....
I'd install headers, (gibsone) might make
a set or one of the other brands.. a set of
Catco cats, with sensor... and a high flow
exhaust
I just did all the exhaust on my 77
headers (dynomas) cats ( catco)
pipes 2.5" pepboys, mufflers
turbo mufflers (dynomax) under $350
I"m in Cal and still a smog check required
but I like cleaner air also..
best

No - not yet here in MN. I would like to have it checked at the pipe to see how much of a difference the cats make.
