HP books has a series of rebuild/modify/performance books. You can get them at any Barnes and Noble. Ford Parts Interchange, Ford Performance, Ford V8's On A Budget are a few titles I can remember. They're worth a look if nothing else. Also, I remember Tom Monroe has a few Ford books published by the same people, HP books, might want to check that out. Hot Rod built a 460 a while ago and Car Craft built one for their Big Block Showdown. Both articles are available on the tech pages of their web sites.

500 or 600 hp is nothing for the two bolt or four bolt blocks, the 460 cranks are good for 650 to 700 hp in offset ground 4.150" stroke version and a touch more in stock form. I run a poured four bolt D0VE block bored to 4.470" and a billet 4.5" crank for 565" A460 aluminum heads, injected on alcohol and make about 1000hp in a dragster that turns 7.80's @ 171+ mph.
The nitrous is what will kill this deal forget that, it is so easy to run an engine into detonation with the happy gas its not even funny. Start with a 460 block forged flat top pistons, use a set of Blue Thunder aluminum heads and a nice single plane manifold with at Holley HP 950 carb, a nice moderate cam, say about 235@ .050" and .575" to .600" lift, a set of 1 7/8" headers and you got 600hp or better in a fairly doscile street package. Why monkey with all the complications of blowers and nitrous, there just a bundle of costly problems.
