88 Ford F-150, 302 FI Swap to 351 Carb. Engine

I'm helping a friend rebuild a 351 engine removed from a 76 Ford van. The engine will be installed in an 88 Ford F-150, 4x4 that has a 302 fuel injected engine. We are going to remove the computer controlled sensors. The truck has TFI ignition and we want to go to the DuraSpark ignition the van has. Looking at the electrical circuit diagram the TFI ignition doesn't have a ballast resistor needed for the DuraSpark ignition. Could anyone that has done a swap like this give me some help on the easiest way to do this. Thanks.

There are way many other more experienced people on this site other than me...but here goes anyway. I just did a EFI to carb swap. It was 1978ish 6 cyclinder motor into a 1986 EFI. The ballast resistor was mounted on the passenger side fender well instead of the coil next to the (and attached to) voltage regulator, as I recall. Hope this helps some...

I don't have an answer to your question, but is your engine a Modified or a windsor? If it's a modified, do you intend to use the transmission from the van too?

FYI, the the Modified has a big-block bolt pattern and will not connect to the tranny in the F-150.
