Transmission Flushing

1993 F150 SC 4x4 302 E4OD - 89,000 miles, Never have had any problems with transmission but have never changed fluid, fluid looks OK, but thinking I should do some maintenance. I have done my share of pulling a 5,000 lb boat around. Should I just perform the normal change of fluid or go to a lube shop and have them perform a flush and treatment job. Thanks for any advice. - Ed

Transmission Flushing

I would do the normal filter change etc.. and then drain torque converter.I think ford put a plug in it and all you have to do is drop the inspection cover and rotate engine manually to gain access. Then I would take lines off trans and use compressed air(SAFELY)and blow thru lines and cooler. It might sound like a lot of work but it isnt and the problem w/some shops, they dont drain torque converter.
