Ranger 2.5 high torque,low RPM hesitation/studder

I would like to run a problem with my 98 Ranger,2.5,5-spd by everyone and see what you think. During low RPM high torque situations(like starting on a hill) it hesitates and studders badly. Only high revs and slipping the clutch will get it going. Yet "normal" easy acceleration and highway driving is fine. Only sometimes hard acceleration will cause a miss, but accelerating at highway speeds is good. Seems to be worse after warmup. Idles slightly rough.
The first origonal problem was very hard starting and pinging. I replaced the plugs, wires, fuel and air filters(30kmi on them) which made it run better but not perfect. I replaced the MAF and upstream O2 sensor and the low rpm power and rough idle problem is all that Im left with.
This motor has 186kmi on it and since 2 months ago has ran/idled perfectly. Oil changed every 3kmi and I plan on running it till 300kmi.
Thanks for your time,
bnj

Welcome bnj...So, the engine does run properly now or you still have rough idle & no low rpm power?

Welcome to bnj,
If you don't want to play guessing games, a great place to start would be pulling the computer codes!

Yep, still have the problem of no power at low RPM load. you know, the more I think about it, seems just like the EGR is coming on way too soon. The CIL is not on,Ill pull the codes and check out the EGR and let you know.
Have fun,Bnj
