rear speakers are an interesting size... some say 6x8, others say 5x7 when u buy the speakers though, most of them will tell you if they're made to fit a ford. JL's XR series 5x7's were made to fit fords...

acerockola77 has it right. Yes, 6x8 is a very common Ford size. With some modifications, you can fit a 6x9 in there. Also, the 5x7 will fit too with their adapters.

my 6x9's are requiring a considerable amount of modifications I'm building whole new MDF enclosures in the space of the original speaker. The depth provided in the holes for the original speakers were not feasable with the new speakers... food for thought

I will post pictures when i have it all completed

Regular cabs:
fronts=6.5"
rear=5x7/6x8 (they are interchangeable)

ext. cabs:
fronts=6.5"
rear=5x7 but a 6x8 should work.

pioneer makes a exact fit speaker for the rear, which is what i have been using, and they sound pretty nice. just a suggestion.

If you put infinity baffle speakers (6 x 9) in a box, they won't sound the same. Some of the bass region output will be affected.

For future enquires, you can go to crutchfield.com or bestbuy.com and type in your vehicle info and they will tell you all the stock radio and speaker sizes.
