Question Spark plug

I have 98 Exped EB 5.4L 4x4.. I'm at that point of 60,000m. I live in the High de. of the south west [5000 to 6000] ft. I've do some mod. to my ford, Like 3"exhaust - TB with spacer, and a viloint air intake. Can anyone give some good info on spark plugs??? One last thing it does have a CHIP aswell. Thank you for any good responses...or stay with motorcraft??

Hi and welcome to FTE

Stay with the Motorcraft. They seem to run better on them.

RDPrimeaux Thanks for the different choice. Are you running them in a 5.4L ford right now? I live in an alt. 5000 to 6000 ft above sea level. At this level a TB spacer has even helped even though everyone say's they are only good for paper weights? and I can.t fined anything to get more spark out of this because of the [coil packs 8] of them so thats why I'm looking at spark plugs?? THANKS FOR THE INFO

I have tried the tbs in the past, i feel that i have wasted money on that. Ebay has those plugs for under 90 a set...expensive, but it is the best plug to get

For $90, they had better install themselves too!!!

How much better can they be? The original motorcraft plugs in my Windstar went 116,000 miles before the first tume up. They would have went longer if I would have regapped them, but as hard as it is to get to the back plugs, I went ahead and put in new ones.
That is enough proof to me that for about $4.00 a piece, you can't beat the Motorcrafts.

Not with Ford's EDIS. With the Denso (and NGK) iridium plugs, only
the center electrode is iridium. Due to the opposite spark polarity,
the outer electrode (not iridium) will erode, and these plugs will
only last 25K - 30K miles (half the plugs)!!

The best plugs are Motorcraft double platinums!!

I do not care about having to replace plugs every 25k or so...there is no way i am going to leave a plug in for 100,000 miles any way.
catchtail wanted info on a different plug...these plugs are for performance, I do not know if they last a million miles, nor do I care. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't.
let me rephrase my original reply...IN MY OPINION, DENSO IRIDIUM PLUGS ARE THE BEST...IN MY OPINION

I guess, if you like breaking your back and getting cramps in your hands from accessing the plugs in a MOD motor.
The V6 wouldn't be as big of a deal.

Actually, the performance on the iridiums will be worse on one
bank of plugs. In addition to the erosion problem with one bank,
a higher voltage is required to jump the gap, due to the
asymmetry of the GND electrode. If you look at the double
platinums, the platinum on the GND and center electrode is the
same.

As long as they will last at lease 60.000 miles or more would be nice. I'd like to THANK YOU ALL!! Denso Iridium sound like the only performance plugs, out side motorcraft plat. plugs. Like I've said before there is nothing I can do by helping coils that I have found? It's hard to get any GUTS out of any gas engine at 5000-6000 feet above sea. I use to live in E.texas were you can get easy high perfor., But in NM it alot harder!!

I don't think that they will help you though. you need more air flow. I would have to suggest a supercharger to force feed air into the engine. This is how the older piston engine airplanes made power at high alt.
