Galaxy 99. It has a DXV or something like that in front of it, don't have the box here. Really powerful, really tunable. Don't waste your time with cobra junk. 99 comes with echo, robotic voice, voice synthesiser (sp) and roger beep. you will have to have it converted for citizens band use, but where you buy it they should be able to do it for you.

I've run an older model Cobra 29ltd for the past year or so. Been very pleased. Gets great range transmitting and receiving. Running dual 4' firestik fiberglass antennas on it. Bought this one to replace a walmart special that received ok but wouldn't transmit hardly at all.

Despite many warnings not to, I actually did buy my radio on ebay. Got a real steal on it. Many told me not to, so maybe I just got lucky...

I run a Cobra 29 and a Superstar 3900. The Cobra is a good radio for what it is designed for - price and everyday use. They are not as strong as a Superstar, Galaxy, or Ranger, but they work very well for a regular install with an average antenna. Plus, you can get one for $100 (+ or -), whereas one of the others can run anywhere from $250 to $400...

I agree the Cobra 29 is a generaly good all around CB and can be tweaked fairly cheaply. In run a RCI2950 and a Galaxy DX88 but those might be out of your price range.

I have a Cobra 29 WXNWST in my semi and I really like it
Do a search on Google and you should find it for around $135.
The antenna is just as important as the radio so don't cut corners there.

Got a new Uniden 68 also, tweaked and peaked with Lil Wil mag mount on the roof. She's got 40+ watts. Gettin' out is not a problem.

Got it at my local CB shop at the truck stop in town.

Uniden Grant, peaked & tuned, connex boards installed backed up by a polomar 250 linear & pushed through a monkey made antenna.

hooked up correctly & will walk all over a Galaxy, General Lee, or Connex 3300.
