I own a 1994 Ford half ton 4x4 5.0 ,standard 5 speed, wieghs in at 5100lb.,with driver. I've done all the mods I can to the 5.0. Except for blower, blower is out of the question, because the truck has to be a daily driver, and it gets to -40c in the winter here. My mods include, a ported and polished upper and lower intake, ported and polished GT-40 heads, comp. valve spings, stainless steel swirl polished valves, 1.7 roller rockers, headers, Crower cam, the block has been punched out .30 over, K.B.signature series super light pistons, windage tray, hi-volume oil pump, arrowmotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 24lb. inj., bigger throttle body, hi-volume fuel pump, K&N gen.II air filter, MSG-6AL,MSG blaster coil, computer mods., 2 3/4 inch dual exhust with X-pipe, Flow Master mufflers, heavy-duty clutch, susp. work, Alburn pro-series rear diff., 355 gears, all syn. oils front to back, P285/60R15 street raidals, super light alum. rims, custom paint, etc.,etc.,etc.,........ All I ended up doing was put my torque and hp out of my shift points. Looking to buy a 351W stroker (377,382,393,408,427,etc...), to bring my torque and hp back down into my rpm range,1000-6000rpm. And still be a daily driver. Does anyone know which stroker motor is the best? And where to look to buy one? Price range $7500 Cdn. P.S. I did most of the work on the truck myself. P.P.S. This is my first time online. Thank-you fastfordtruck.
Why arent you happy with the amount of power you're making? If it's out of the shift points, you mean it kicks in around 4-5k rpm? You could always swap out the gearing, drop it down to 3.08 or so, that would leave the power band the same but you'd be moving faster...
Hi, if you really want a stroker according to all the mustang guys the one you want is a 331 the 347 is fast but doesn't last it is a stroked 302 then you could use a lot of the parts you already have such as heads and intakes headers.

I don't know jack about half of what you posted. I'm not an engine guy. But you might find some info or ideas over at http://www.ford-power.com Sure impresses the heck out of the ignorant.
Thank you Kevin T for your suggestion I appreciate the feed back. I hope this is the way to get a hold of you ,I'm not too sure how to use this message board to anwser you back. The use of 3.08 gears is a good idea but I'm still left with a motor that doesn't build torque until 4100rpm. And as we both know torque is what gets you moving and hp is what keeps you moving. I thank-you again; fastfordtruck
Thanks for your input,Fatforty. A 331 or 347 are nice motors but like you said they don't last long. I'm looking for a stroker motor with not so much cylinder wear, that I'd have to replace the motor every 40to50,000 km. I realy hope you guys are getting these replies, I do appreciate the input.
Thank-you fastfordtruck
p.s. If anyone of you sees these replies please inform the others that I am anwering them back, if you can.
Thank you Daywalker for the wed site, you suggested to me, Cool little guy following your message! Looks like I may have to save up some more money or hope that the Canadain dollar goes up a bit more!
Thank-you fastfordtruck
Your answers are coming through just fine, as the stroker goes the 331 is suppose to be pretty tough it is the 347 that doesn't last only 50,000 then mega oil use!!!

DAYWALKER: I clicked the link you had to the picture of your truck, D@MN nice truck man! Is that a 250? Looks like the 8-bolt rims on that puppy...
Fastford- Yes I know what you mean about the power not coming in until up high, I know this might sound stupid but the 300 I6 in the F-150's make a BUTTLOAD of torque down around 2500 RPM, they dont pull through very high rev's (as in anything over 4k) but I *THINK* That's because the EFI 6's are built with 14# fuel injectors...ugh, the one's on my truck are 19#'ers but swapping them wouldn't do j@ck considering the speed density instead of MAF computer, stupid ford, why couldn't they make are the V8's MAF when they started putting that in the mustangs around `88?
I think the way to go is with a 351W stroker and not a 302, the swap would be a little more involved, I think you'll need a lot of new computer crap, unless you go carb.
Hey, fastford. As far a strokers go, I am not that experienced with all the possible 351 based engines, but I do know someone who built a 393 that hauls! It used off-the-shelf 302 pistons, windsor rods and a 3.850 stroke crank. the crank is available from summit, scat and others. this seems to be the way to go as far as torque, but it takes a lot of airflow to make some high-end horsepower, necessitating better heads. it's fairly inexpensive, too. I saw on the web (I don't remember where, but I'll post the link as soon as I find it) where someone built a 393 that made 480 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm, and somewhere around 400 hp around 5500 rpm. just my $.02
KevinT: Thanks, checked out your site and got too say, damn that one nice custom built machine. I love the stereo. Yeah its got 8-bolt rims most other things about are in my signature. It's all stock except for visible add-ons and a K&N air filter.
Fastfordtruck: Axles are something I know about. However I would get lower gears (numerically higher) so that you could use your power range more often and the torque would be amplified. I have a stock 351 with a 4.10 axle. The truck will go up to speed cutoff at around 3500 rpm in 5th. So you should be able to play through out the entire speed spectrum with lower gears. 3.73 or 4.10. Just my $.02 worth.
DAYWALKER: Speed cutoff at 3500? Maybe I dont have the 2.73 axle that the door sticker says...mine hits speed cutoff at 3200 RPM, 1800 RPM at 65 mph, 1200 RPM at 55 (in 5th)
LAST EDITED ON 07-Jan-01 AT 07:07*PM (EST)[p]KevinT: Its not a rev limiter I think thats in the 5k's. This is a speed limiter it shuts your motor down at a certian speed. I think for my trucks its 105 but 95 is a number I've heard often. My speedo only goes to 90 but I kept it floored one day and it accelerated slowly for about a minute and then engine shutoff. Thats what I was talking about.
