Engine Hesitates at Takeoff.

Even after warming up (>5 mins), when I goto Take-Off in Drive, its as tho the engine 'misses', and hesistates... This condition is predicatable and replicatable. (Is kind of embarrasing for a $43K+ brand new truck.)

Might this be something related to these 'flashes' or am i just bummin?

[truck is a MY03, 6.0L PSD, ~1500 miles]

thx.

Almost all the 6.0L's (and more so the 7.3L's) do this as well. It's called turbo lag. My truck does it too. You have to "push in" on the gas a bit for the turbo to kick in.

In diesels there is something called 'turbo lag'. You have to give the turbo time to spool. You can combat this with some after market controllers that supply fuel at low boost or by putting on an air intake can resolve some of the problem too. You'll have more smoke but it'll feel more like your gas motor then....

what do you mean by 'push in'??? you mean like essentially apply the pedal more?? heck, i already inevitably DO that... waiting for engine response.

perhaps my condition is different... by HESITATION, i mean it feels like the engine is 'Missing' or about to 'Stall' -- kinda like a Boogared-Up carb from the old daze, like some plugs are not firing... it actually seems to start to die... but revives after a short moment, then in fine thru the rest of accelerator movement.

after a couple of takeoffs, is fine.

is THIS STILL the condition that is consistant w/ Turbo Lag???

i'm scared of the FLASH, but perhaps should consider it... Gggrrr....

I'd say what you got is difinatly turbo lag and the reflash could help some of that the same way an aftermarket programmer might.

Yes, that sounds to me like what I have too. (the turbo lag) By "push in" means just that, give it a little more gas
If I were you I wouldn't have the engine re-flashed unless your SURE its a problem. Try test driving newer 6.0L's and see if they do what your describing. If they don't, the choice is up to you.

Just my 02. Cent"z".
