Lightbulb Code P1131 and P1151

My '98 Navigator has displayed codes P1131 and P1151 on my scanner and say "Manfacter Contrls. fuel air meter". What does this mean? The spelling in the " " is how it actually reads.

It mayjust be extremely dirty. I would spray the small wires in the meter (located in the engine side of the air cleaner housing) with carb cleaner (engine off). Also check the wires to make sure that they are ok.

And I just wanted to say Welcome To FTE. I think that you will find a whole lot of useful info here.

pappa,

These codes indicate a LEAN condition in banks 1&2.

1) Clean your MAF and than disconnect your battery to reset your PCM. If the code(s) come back...

2) Do a search on the word "Lean". The posts will tell you to check for vacuum leaks. (unmetered air getting into your motor will cause a lean condition.)

If you need more help, don't hesitate to post again.

Good Luck,

Bill

Thumbs up

I found the problem. Thanks for the help. It was a deteriorated boot on the vacuum end of the PCV line where it connects on the back end of the throttle body.

Glad to hear you got it fixed
This seems pretty common, they must be using cheap rubber products these days.

The codes that you are speaking of concern the Ho2 sensors that are right after the exhaust manifolds. Usually accompanied by o2 sensor slow to read codes means its time to replace the heated o2 sensor.
