I like the mileage of the PSD for my slide-in camper fantasy but will it put me overweight? To get the PSD and then need a lightweight camper seems silly.

Depends on what size of truck and camper. I have a 03 F-350 cc dually with a 12' camper. pics of it is in the users gallery under my user name on the left.

Looks tight. What type of camper and what's it weigh wet? From other threads I was gathering that camper weights put most people with SRW over and the diesel only made things worse. From your numbers on the photo you'd be legit with the dually even by ford's recommendations, correct?
BTW do you actually use the 4x4 with any regularity and how is that if that's "off-road"?

I have pics as well. My buddie sold me a used light weight one he said for a 1/2 ton. But on the 250 I don't really feel it. And with the PSD I can blow by the class A's in the mountains.
Hello Sinjin,
I also have a F-350 4X4 dually. The camper is a Lance 1161 that weighs about 3900 without the AC. Had it weighed the other day with 3 people and a 100 pound dog inside.
the front axel is 440 under max and the rear is 210 over max. For California models the dealers literature claims 11,000 GVWR but for the other 49 states it is either 12,000 or 12,500. What makes the difference? Anyway the whole works weighs in at 13,310 so am 2310 pounds over. Have the Rancho adjustable shocks and air bags plus the camper special. First time in a slide in and diesel. Truck runs good and is a March build. also towed our boat and that has a tongue weight of 218 pounds. So far no trouble. Am somewhat intimidated at the weight figures. I guess eventually I will find out if any problems occur. Maybe should have gone for the F-450. Time will tell. Good luck.
P.S. It is also a PSD
I saw some Lance's over last weekend at an rv show. Pretty nice.
Track homes- In your pictures the neighborhood behind is not what I thought Alaska was like but what do I know, never been there.
figmo,
Thanks for the info. I want to be cautious in this truck purchase since buying too much truck is dumb and not enough is stupid.

oh I am getting it. Ya anchorage is like ever big little city I guess. Throw the camper on and come on up. June is the best month and king salmon and reds are running strong.

The camper weight wet is 3,872 LBS. I'm allowed 8,250 on the rear axle of the dually so it is legal. I also pull the boat at the same time. And yes I do 4 wheel with the camper on, I will post some pics of alittle rock crawling when my wife develops the pics.
