Does anyone out there know the details of these instrument panels, I have several questions. First, are these gages the type that operate with a heated bimetal strip? Are they individually replaceable or must the whole cluster be replaced and what is the going price for these panels used w/tach? It seems to me that these gages (gas oil press.) should return to zero when the ignition is off.

The guages can be replaced separately, you can go to a wrecker and buy a panel for around $50 to $75. Get the guages you need and save the rest. Just for info, they dont always go back to the left side. Mine on the temp if past 1/2 way will go the other way. But it workes fine when the key is on.

Dave,
Thanks for the info. I had mine out and was doing the number on the oil pressure gage. The original had just the binary switch on the engine block (the kind used with an idiot lite) and a resistor in series with is to the gage so that the gage would read half way. You either indicated no or normal oil poressure with this set up (this is factory). I installed a analog pressure sensor and bypassed the resistor on the printed circuitboard and now I know what I really have for pressure.
Thanks again.

Larry

That all sounds great, but the real catch is that the original guages are not accurate at all. They works on a on and off, and as long as there is presure the guage will read high. It seems to work with voltage, the higher the voltage the higher the guage even though the oil presure is higher or lower. Seach back and you will see some more info on this subject, the bottom line is that if you want to know what your oil presure really is, is to install an aftermarket guage and sending unit.
