explorer won't start

I have a 1998 Explorer XLT 4.0 (V6). It has had a problem staying running after it starts, but has not been continuos. Starting yesterday, it turns over fine but will not start unless you have your foot on the gas pedal. Once you take your foot of the gas it stalls. I have to have one foot on the gas and one on the brake just to drive around. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks in advance for any input.

Probably the fuel pump/filter. That exact same thing happened to my 95 Explorer. We replaced the fuel pump (which really sucked) and it worked perfect from then on.
