HELP!!! F-6 FMC Fire Truck
I had to do it! It was going to the scrap yard! Now I have to ID it. Title is impossible to find without some information. Don't know my Ford's well enough from that era. Owner said "it is a 47, or 50 or something like that".
My question is (besides how to handle the wife....), where can I go to find pictures of F-6's to determine the year? Where can I find the ID?
I would like to restore it as it is in really pretty good condition. Any help out there for this rookie?

Way to go Jimbo! You should be able to find the rating plate with the VIN stamped on it either in the glove box, or on the driver-side door pilar.
If you can't find the rating plate, the VIN should be stamped on the top of the frame rail between the front of the cab and the front axle. Sometimes it is on the passenger side rail, but most folks seem to find it on the driver side rail.
If you post all the data from the rating plate or the VIN number from the frame, we can usually decode it for you.

Easy - the first 8 means it's a 1948
Second 8R means it came with a 239 flathead V8 engine
The 'T' means a truck one ton or larger.
The 5 digits are the consecutive unit number (serial)
For pictures, you can check my user's gallery for pictures of my 48 pickup - it is identical to the 49's and 50's also.
