Rugged Liner bedliner removal?

Does anybody know how to remove the "easy-to-remove" retaining clips of a Rugged Liner bedliner (without breaking them)? The liner came with a 99 Ranger I bought a year ago. I want to have access to the hooks under the liner (which I assume are under there) or even the ledge so I can at least tie things down. If I have to cut a hole in the liner, I would, but I would still need to remove the liner to figure out where to cut.
