53 Carb

Few questions on my '53 holley 1bbl carb.

1. Once its all clean is there something that can be put on it to keep it looking good.

2. One of the butterfly valves has some small pits in it, they should'nt effect it performance? Right? If not can the butterfies be coated with something to prevent more pits or these from getting worse?

3. The diaphram in the float bowl had a black sealant on it. What is it? Is it needed? If so where can I get some? With it it diffently wont leak, had to use a 1/8" sharp chisel to get it out.

About every 6-8 years I have mine professionaly rebuilt and they then glass bead it to a beautiful shine. Very difficult to keep clean with regular use other then celaning the engine compartmet regularly.
