c-6 kickdown lever.

My jeep j-10 has a transplanted 460 and the transmission kickdown has never been installed. I have not seen the linkage so my question is: Is it a cable or metal linkage? Where can I get one. I probably will have to do some fabricating to make it work in my Jeep but I would like to start off with the right part and go from there. The speedo was not hooked up by the po either. Is it difficult to hook up a speedo cable from a c-6 to a Jeep speedometer?

The kickdown linkage on a 78 460/c6 is a hollow metal tube roughly 3 feet long with all kinds of bends in it. It needs to be light weight so it doesn't accidentally shift on bumpy roads and such (that's my guess).

I got a spare 460/c6 with my off-road truck and it had that linkage on it. I would check the boneyard for a 70s Lincoln with a 460/c6. I can take a pic of the one I have and post it tomorrow if you like.

As for the speedo cable, I'm not sure. The end of the cable probably won't attach to the speedometer the same way it does to a ford speedo. It might, but you may have to go to an aftermarket speedo setup.

Thanks, I would like to see it. Is your spare for sale?
