Ranger XLT Topper

If you are using "topper" like "camper shell" then perhaps the Leer would be the best. I'm in the market for one since my prior truck was totalled (damn hit and run driver)...just waiting on the settlement check! As soon as I get it, I'm ordering a Leer with a Yakima rack installed. I don't think the Snug Top looks as good, but it had better features than the Leer. For example, both the windows and the screen slides (not just the windows on most shells), and the hinges for the rear door are mounted on the inside giving it more of a flush look. It costs a few hundred more than the Leer, but I still think the Leer looks better. Hope this helps!

When I ordered the Leer 100xlt for my 98 Ranger, they took the paint code from the door jamb, and custom make it with whatever options you want. In a couple of weeks, the shop called me saying they had a brand new white leer 100xlt that just came off the truck. I like my canopy a lot, but it was expensive too
I like some of the options on the A.R.E. tops but they're more expensive and I didn't like the looks of some. For example, you can get rear wipers, power window locks, stuff like that.
One of the main reasons that I got the specific one that I did is because of the windows. Not sliding windows, but instead, the bottom, back side of the windows pop out. I can leave them open in the rain and no water gets in, and still give good ventilation with tint and screens. Also has front sliding window that tilts for cleaning, headliner, interior light, clothes hanger. Go to a shop that sells canopies and pick up some brochures and you'll get a better idea...

I've been a fan of a company called Jeraco. They do the same paint matching and stuff. Also, I've found that for racks, Thule makes a much better system than Yakima. When you order the cap (topper) see if they'll put the base of the rack in the fiberglass, it will save you from drilling later.
