I would stick with 6.5" in the front and probably 6x9's in the rear as long as they are not too deep. That is what I run and it sound pretty good.

Any reputable stereo place can tell you what will fit in your truck. As far as what is best, well that is going to depend on what kind of sound you are going for. Your head unit will also make a considerable difference. Factory speakers are USUALLY made to work especially with the factory head unit. They are good speakers, BUT when the head unit is replaced, they cannot take it. The reverse is also true. Alot of factory head units put out itty bitty amounts of wattage. Good enough when using the speakers designed to work with it, but when aftermarket speakers are put in, the wattage is WAAAAAAAY too low and the sound is terrible. If you already have an aftermarket stereo, and you are just looking to replace that factory type sound, I would suggest....ANYTHING. As long as it is all aftermarket. You can go down to your local Wally-mart and pick up a pair of 3 1/2 inchers (Sony Extremes) for your doors (if I remember correctly) may be bigger...prob are....anyway whether they are 3 1/2 up to 6 1/2 you won't pay more than 40-70 bucks (40 being the 3's and 70 being the 6's).

NOW! the rear...this gets a little tricky. The rear speakers call for a...uh.....hrmmm...don't remember right now...but it was something weird like 4x10... You CAN fit a 6x9 in the bracket however...just takes a little fanagling. but it can be done. Price: 70 bucks. now these are real nice speakers. They will last you a good long time. And with an aftermarket stereo, they will sound awesome.

If you are looking for REAL GOOD sound let me know. I can give you alot of good information on that, too. I would do it now, but this post is long enough as it is. I have been working on stereos and speaker systems for 12 years. The first thing I tell people who are looking for better sound is to ditch the factory system. ESPECIALLY in the newer broncos where it can be done real pretty like. Not like these newer chevy's and dodge's that have the 2 din radios that give you a lot of dead space when replacing with aftermarket. I have rambled enough...let me know if you have any questions.

I put 6.5" in the front and 5x7" in the back of my 96. I got them through Crutchfield and they have worked out real well for me. Go to www.crutchfield.com and put in all the info about your truck and they will tell you what fits. Any decent stereo place should be able to help you out as well as places like Best Buy, etc.. If you are looking to do it yourself Crutchfield is a good place to start b/c they give you all the instructions and wiring harnesses you will need to do the job.

The size for the rear is that weird 6x8 in mine (89 though). When you decide what you want, call Crutchfield and ask them if they will fit even if you don't plan on buying from them. Some speakers end up having either too big or too deep of a magnet structure to fit in the doors, that's why I couldn't use infinity perfect components in mine.

As far as what kind, like someone else said, anything aftermarket (within reason, some of that stuff at Wal-mart is still junk, you'll know by looking at it, feeling the weight of it) will be better than stock. If you're looking to get something cool for Wal-mart prices, go eBay. Buy from the powersellers so you don't have to worry about getting ripped off, and all's good. I got a $180 pair of Kenwood excelon's for $80 shipped (still in the mail, can't wait), that's a premium speaker for Wal-mart Pioneer prices. Hope this helps a little, good luck!
