My '03 F250 has power door locks but not keyless entry. Anyone know what I have to buy to be keyless. Can I buy the receiver and plug it in to the wiring harness?? I already have extra key fobs.

I thought I missed my keypad (96 Explore) until I had no keyless at all!!

Does anyone have a pic of the newest number pad embedded in the door? I went to look at one today when i was at the shop but they still have the early 04 ones.

I just bought an '04 XLT and it didn't come with keyless entry. My brother-in-law,a service director at a Ford dealership, gave me a keyless unit for X-mas. The install manual is a bear! It includes instructions for ALL of the Ford accessory alarms and remote start packages, over 350 pages. I am not dummy, but I think that I will pay them to install it. It's not just plug in a module and you have keyless. You have to splice the brain box into your harness (bummer).

I will also confirm that installing keyless entry is a beast. I tried it on a '92 Explorer, and tried, and then gave up. There is a how to article over on www.ford-trucks.com though.

Thanks for the info. Any chance you have the part number? I would like to see if it matches anything I have come up with.

I have been in contact with 5 different dealers. Two can not believe it came without keyless, only 3 agree on what I need to have keyless, prices from the 5 are over 200 dollars apart, and all 5 made it seem all I had to do was plug it in and go.

Maybe the newer ones are more plug and go. I think my '92 didn't even have keyless entry as a factory option, which may be one reason it was so hard.

Sorry it took so long to respond (out of town).

I have p/n 2W7Z-19A361-AA and it is DEFINENTLY not plug and play. It comes with a brain box, valet switch, 2 fobs, and harness and a bunch of wires. I am not sure if it’s the same as the one for the ’03, but it is the correct one for the ’04. My brother-in-law said it pays 1.5 hours to install.

Thank you very much.

That is the same part number I got from the dealership. Definetely a pricey ordeal. Might have to get used to using the key.

Well, this falls right in with what I am trying to do. First a little back ground, 02 F250 PS Lariat. This is my first full size pick up until now I have had four full size Broncos, unfortunately that line is dead and gone. My last two have had keyless entry, I went to the local junkyard and took them off an early 90’s Taurus. Cut a hole in the door panel and put it in. If anyone wants greater detail incl wiring codes and parts let me know. Anyway, that was the plan for the 02 however when I bought the truck it came with the keyless entry default code card in the glove box. The dealer told me that it was an option (?) and all the trucks came with the card because the capability was inherently there whether or not it was used. I have no idea if this is mumbo jumbo or not. So now what I’m trying to verify is whether or not this is the case. I had all the schematics for my Bronco’s but can’t find anything on these newer trucks. I noted from an above post that the Excursion came with keyless entry. If so where was the keypad located? If it is part of the door handle that would be great (do to cosmetics). If the F-Series really had it as an option then the harness may already be in the door which is half the battle of doing the Taurus mod. Any info would be appreciated.

another way

you can go to:
Team Ford Parts Online- Ford OEM Parts at a discount

and get a wireless one for $70 or so.

They told me it would work on my 2002 250SD
part # is 3L2Z-14A626-AA or the same thing under a newer part #
7L2Z14A626BA
