limited slip rear end

Back to my 2 w/d, '82' F-150 project truck. I've decided to stay with the existing 300-6, 4 speed combination. However, I do want to add a limited slip. I have what I believe is a 9" rear end (the gears are accessed through the front of the housing). If that isn't neccessarily so, let me know. The axle code is '15' which my Chilton doesn't even list for '82'. But for "83' it is listed as a 2.73, which seems about right ( it's real tall ! ). Unfortunately, I don't have any idea what's involved in replacing a standard rear end with a "limited slip". Also, will it be any more complex if I change ratios at the same time? I've gotten the impression that the 9" is pretty simple to change gears ( why NASCAR uses them ). Can I order a Ford limited slip from a wrecking yard, ready to go in the axle, or is it more complicated than that? Thanks for your help Guys! Halibut4

I have seen LSs and trac lock diffs available in all gear ratios for your Ford 9" rear. Checkout Jeff's Bronco Graveyard website, they got em. Yes the 9" is a stout axle which is why you find it in anything from a Baja truck to a stock car...they're tough!
