88 F150 302 No Fuel Pressure

My 88 f 150 has no fuel pressure at the rail. i can hear the pump behind the seat running but not the one in the bed. it used to take this fits like once a year or something but usually i waited a week or 2 and then it would start. i have replaced the fuel p in the past trying to correct the problem. i have been told there is a short in the wires going to the back pump. how can i see if this is true? how do i look for a short and how do i replace it? thanks

Check to see if you have voltage at the pump.

on your truck you have three pumps one near the cab of the truck (this is your high pressure pump ) and two pumps in the tanks if you have duals or just one in the tank if you have a single tank.

checking the voltage at the rear pumps is a start and for the fitts you say it has i would also replace the fuel filter. the pumps in the tanks are know to have shorts and failures.

I am currently looking at converting the fuel system on and 87 f 150 to the two pump design on the 93- 96 f 150..
