DC to AC Power Inverter installed...

I finally added a power inverter for my laptop. It's a Power Line 300 watt 120 volt. Check my gallery out under Misc. Aftermarket to see a pic.

Sounds great and you can run other things to with that much power. Laptop only needs about 100 watts or less...right.

Hi,

Power Inverters rock

2000 Watt

Word of warning...having a big power inverter is great, but don't try plugging a full size vaccuum into it to clean up the truck for a show. The inverter can handle it, but the fuse between the inverter and battery don't like it very much.

Don't mind me; I'm just bored.

So how many amps can you normally pull off a battery?

Reserve time on your battery is how long it will last pulling 20 amps constantly. 20 amps x12 volts = 240 Watts So you can run 240 watts off your car battery for however long your batteries rated reserve time is. I spent a lot of time before football season this year researching this stuff. I considered a dual battery set up with an isolator coming off the alternator, but the expense of all the stuff I wanted to make that setup was getting close to the 1000 Watt Troy Bilt generator at Lowes. I am getting by with a 300 Watt inverter fine for now.

With a 300watt, you can run a 19" T.V. and/or VCR, laptop etc.
I just needed it to run a laptop...You really only need 70 watt or so to run a laptop...but just like the SuperDuty...it's there when you need something BIGGER!!!

Nice install. I recently put a 750W mounted vertically inside my console, then fitted an excrursion rear console piece (the one with the cupholders built in and the opening for audio controls). I fabbed up a plug to go in the audio control opening. Pretty clean install, and since the inverter is mounted vertically, I really don't lose any space inside my center console...
