New LLY Duramax for 04

I was reading about the updated LLY Duramax for 04.
340-370 HP and 560-580 pounds of Torque. Sounds like it could be a real beast.
I'll be anxious to see it in 04 and see what its capable of compared to Dodge and Fords Offerings..
I'll keep on saying it, man we are living in exciting times as far as Horsepower goes!
I remember the late 80's when GM had the new fuel injected 5.7 and its potent 210 horsepower. I mean now look at the truck engines that all the manufacturers are putting out, I mean we are talking serious horsepower and Torque! Exciting I tell ya!
Now Ill go get in my 89 Escort wagon and drive home from work

I think Ron's talking about the one that was displayed on the Today show this morning. It's supposed to have some bad power to it, but isn't supposed to be out until sometime in 2005.

They also had the new quad cab Toyota, the new Chevy and the New Ford. Between them all, the Ford definately looks the most like a tough truck and has the heavier suspension. The Ford definately had the best interior. I did like the Chevy's bed feature. It had a built in power outlet. I thought that was pretty cool. I forget which truck it was that had a slider bar that adjusts to hold different size loads, but that was cool also.

MAybe your right,

Maybe your right about the 05 wich means it will probably BE an 05 model and come out in 04 sometime. The LLY Dmax will sport a Variable Vane Turbo, EGR, and redesigned cylinder heads.
Oh well, cant wait to see it!, Then Ford will Up theirs. then Dodge, then Gm again, and before you know it, we will al be driving 800 hp 1/2 ton pickups!
I think I want to swap some nitrous in my Escort... Maybe take it up to about 45 hp..

And of course each year wee will HAVE TO HAVE all that additonal horsepower & torqe. I mean look at how heavy the campers trailers and fifth wheels are getting now days! We have all seemed to adopt the attitude that when we get the best possible we will be able to do so much more. Well it hasn't worked for the Trailblazers, they pay out more than most and the majoirty of the team needs to be recalled!

My 460 is more than adequate. I don't think that 45K is a reasonable price for a new rattle can.

Dang right it is! If I spent that much on a 4x4 I'd never take the thing off the road, let alone go fishing or hunting in it. Then again, I buy trucks to be used as a truck.

I guess the Durajunk with it's aluminum heads must be doing better than expected since they are considering trying to get even more power from it. Something about that just makes me nervous.

Ya your right I just bought it to let it sit in the driveway. It works everyday and goes hunting on the weekends.I just do it with less effort and alot more comfortable. Spend what you can afford.

Thats what I do with my truck. I use it on social occasion (not that often) and when I need it for work - ie - farm, business, hauling garbage - you name it. I feel it is more economical to buy an older truck and use it a little, than buying a new truck and having it sit in the driveway 5 days a week...

I have a bad back, and the only vehicle I have found with soft enough seats is the 78-79 F-Series trucks with the bench seat.

I thought I was the only one....

Aluminum, IMO, isn't the best choice for this application. When you're creating that much HP & torque, seems to me that Aluminum is way too soft...

They are not turning up the juice until 2005. It will have changes similar to the 6.0L. I drive my buddy's duramax once and a while I can't believe the diffirence between the two trucks. Don't see how someone would buy one unless they never drove a 6.0L.
