I just believe thats one of the things that does it.
Odd firing order: Early Buick V6 with a distributor cap that looks like a V8 with two posts missing. Bad vibrations...

Even firing order: Everything Ford ever made (in the last 50 years, anyway...).

What is the part number for that muffler, did you take the converter off, and what size tailpipe, 2.5 or 3.0"? Thanks:

Ever since the "odd-fire Buick 3.8L V6" (or so my machinist and others call it), I thought it meant that there was a gap in firing. For instance, the Buick V6 I'm talking about was a single crank-pin crank. Not a split-pin, like our V10's or later Buick 3.8 V6's. That single crank pin meant there was a gap in firing, which is why the distributor cap looked like a V8 cap with two posts missing.

I think the crank was just a V8 crank with the front (or rear) crank pin missing. Leading to a unique (and terrible) configuration.

That's what I always too as "odd-fire". I could be VERY wrong, however

I'm curious. Are you saying that you have dual pipes from the muffler back? If so, do you bring them back on the same side next to each othe or do you bring them back on opposite sides?
What diameter pipe do you use?

Thanks;

Kinda depends on the look you want and what the muffler guy can do w/r/t pipe bending. Mark's is a SI/DO like mine. I am not 100% sure how he routed his pipes around the spare, but his exit out the back on either side of the hitch area. My pipes run along side each other and both exit out the passenger side just behind the tire. Had to make a lot of bends to get the pipes just right and keep them away from the spare so as not to melt it. The stock pipe is 3" fyi. I used a 3" piece from the cat back to the FM40, then had dual 2.25" pipes out from the FM 40 to the Ansa tips. IMO you want to use the biggest diameter pipe you can to get the deepest sound. You can hear a clip in my FTE site. I need to update my gallery with some pix one of these days....

Hey Ontrag,
Yes, they are dualed out from the Flowmaster 40. It is a split rear set up(one on each side of the Rec. Hitch or Spare Tirie). You can see it in my pics in my gallery. I'm using 2.5 tail pipe into 4"x18" chrome slash tips. I'm about to change them to Stainless steel. Same size or possibly going with the 22" length. I've heard many set ups. I even tried many myself. This one seems to fit me. I've heard the exhaust with the rolled type tips and they sound kind of muted. Just get the plain no frills chrome/stainless slash type echo tips. Definately go with 4" diameter...big sound difference than my old 3"x12 tips...
