Does Ford make crate Motors ????
I have a 2000 F150 Auto 4x4 5.4L and l would like to get more HP
around 400 to 500 HP, but l still have to meet the emmission in are area (Vancouver B.C.) and l was wondering if Ford made crate motors that l could just swap engines. Is there a website were l can get this info??

Thx myroc

I don't think Ford itself does anything but the regular 5.4 Crate. SHM might do a Lightning crate motor but that is big money. You want 400 hp out of a 5.4? Put a Kenne Bell supercharger on it or a Holley Thunder Kit if you got the money. I'm planning on a Kenne Bell T6001-5.4 kit, JBA headers, hi flow cats, and Magnaflow mufflers...should get me over the 400 mark easy. too much more and it's risking the transmission. Lightings got beefed up trannies but still don't have much trouble breaking them after a few mods and a hard launch.

Ford Racing sells all kinds of motors and so does Ford. Matters what you want and how much you want to pay. Now 400 Hp to the rear wheels is going to cost more than a few ducks and 500 hp is going to be alot of ducks to stay in emissions range. Then driving it everyday is going to cost you alot of ducks esp a 4x4 not only in gas but maint. Try to find a turbo kit vs a supercharger reason is supercharger your robbing power to make more power, Turbos run off the exhaust and kits are becoming easier to find. If it was me I find a Lincoln Nav, 5.4 and start from there DOHC vs SOHC, then some good AFR heads ported, bigger injectors, gears and so on. I am not anti NOS and turbo, supercharger but your looking at more problems, wear, and cost esp gaskets and so on. Thats my nickel into the pot.

My ? to 2000BLK54 your going to spend over 7k just on your parts list why not just go ahead and buy a beefy tranny or find a donor Lighting at the junk yard. Everything you list your going to need someone to program your ECU anyways plus you should be close or not over 450 hp to the flywheel.

Didn't SVT introduce an FI 5.0L crate motor, not to be confused with the good old 302, but an overhead cam, modular type. I recall hearing it was to be used in project cars.

That's the 5.0 Cammer crate motor that is based on the spraybore blocks from FRPP. What I'm putting on my truck won't be more than $5,000 plus whatever labor charges. Buying a beefed up tranny ($2,800+) and finding a complete donor L truck motor would be far less cost efficient. I've found a complete Lightning upper intake/fuel system/supercharger used on Ebay but then I'd still have to get an intercooler heat exchanger. The aftermarket kits are just as complete and include ECU chips and fuel pump upgrades. Navigator DOHC 5.4's would make great HP n/a but you would have to buy a custom intake which are prohibitively expensive, the stock intakes just don't make good HP......AFR doesn't make heads for modular Ford so the only answer there is to send them to Foxlake, Steen racing, SHM, or a few others who port and polish 2V/4V heads. A Foxlake Stage 2 package on PI 2V heads runs just under $1000 if you supply the heads. Positive displacement superchargers are the better deal for trucks due to instant off idle response (a must for towing) and ease of tuning and maintenance. Only complete turbo kit I've found offered for the 5.4 is around $3,000 and I have yet to see any detailed specs (even though I've e-mailed the manufacturer).

On the DOHC 5.4 I know pricey but I was understading that you could use DOHC 4.6's intakes and heads and that the real difference between the two 5.4 has a taller deck. On the AFR, my Moorhouse Catalog they are listed for 5.4 I will call after bracket finals this weekend and find out if misprint orthey have them. On the Turbos, there was a dealer cant remember name at Fun Ford Weekend that had a kit for 5.4 for 2800plus there are tons of guys dragging with turbo with 4.6's. I have good friend that works at Dallas Mustang Ill ask him and the where to's and how to's. I really never have cared to do anything to my EXPY 5.4 since its a daily driver and has not broken down other than a COP in a 115k so I havent done that much research but like most High Pro Ford parts your going to have find a local dealer not a website that either has Fab it or found another that works. I have a 67 Camaro Pro for my speed love though I hope to have my Galaxie 500 Super-Pro going before next years racing season begins and sell my Camaro.

You could use 4.6 DOHC intakes but a spacer has to be machined for them to fit....that taller deck height of the 5.4 won't allow it to fit otherwise. I know TDC is forefront in the 4.6 turbo business and they have some awesome kits....just none for the trucks specifically. If I had a ton of money I'd probably go for a custom twin turbo kit for my truck, very unique but just not cost effective for what I want.
