Overdrive & underdrive pulleys

Overdrive & underdrive pulleys
Seems like an underdrive pulley is a pretty common way to get some more power out of the vulcan 3.0, but I never see any mention of overdriving the alternator. Every other engine seems to need an overdrive pulley on the alternator. Is this not necesarry on the vulcans?

Do you mean before or after an underdrive pulley is put on the crank?
All things being equal, an overdrive alternator pulley will generally increase the electrical charging capacity of the engine.
I've heard of a few rare cases were people have installed an underdrive crank pulley in the Ranger 3.0L and then experienced dimming of lights, etc. at times because of the resultant slowing down of the rest of the pulley system, but I'm not sure whether they had to go with an overdrive alt. pulley to compensate.

Yes, I meant with an underdrive pulley on the crank. I only asked because with most other engines an overdrive on the alternator seems to then be needed after puttint an underdrive pulley on the crank. I guess you answered my question that it is probably not nececarry on most rangers. I think I'll be OK without one since I have little that draws power. Thanks.
