U joint help needed FAST !!
Trying to change my U joints (see previous posting about my gear box falling apart), well I have to deal with the local NAPA store and of course their books don't go back far enough.
Who knows what part number of U joints I need ????
This is for a 59 223 with a 3 spd.
The old joint p/n are 5011 and a Spicer F2-5-119, but the NAPA guy hasn't got these coming up on his computer.
Help.

Find somebody in that NAPA store that is willing to take some time and match up your joints for you. I just went through a similar situation getting u joints for one of my projects. The only info I had was that they were Ford u joints. My local NAPA guy took the time to match them up for me.Mine ended up being NAPA number 369. Don't know if this info will work for you but it might be worth a try. It seems to me that the biggest trouble of finding parts today is in the inexperience and unwillingness of some parts guys to do any type of research for you. They don't want to bother if it isn't listed in their computers. Usually it is the "Old Timers" parts men that are the ones who will take the time to try and help you. Try and find a guy like that to help you.

Whewww, yes the U joints turned out to be a Precision 369 part number, but not from NAPA. The Acklands Grainger store has books that go back as far i need. I've ordered plug wires, points rotor and a cap and he says they will be here in 3 days....I like it.
As a follow up to my gear box doofus; it's fixed as of 1:30 A.M. this morning. Man these things are great to work on. First and reverse are really chewed up though.
