Hi, i have a 4.6 here that likes to start ticking every once in a while...it sounds like a bad lifter? but the ticking seems to be a little fast for that...and it is intermittent....it sounds like its coming from the front of the engine...i was thinking timing chain tensioner? do those ever go?

I had a ticking noise, also it blew out a spark plug the #2 pass side, I was told for 60K miles it was fine now that I'm out of warr. the dealer won't pay for the $4000 repair, I first toook it in for the noise at 20K miles when it was under warr. I'm now told Ford is aware of an inherent defect in the head it only has 4 threads holding in the spark plug in, it sounds like a ticking it may possibly be an exhaust leak coming from the spark plug. The plug is held tightly in place by the coil pack. Good luck!
