Has anyone ever been to the Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna for the "Eve of Destruction" event?
I just got a call from my brother and he's got two extra tickets for my son and I for this Friday night. I've heard about some of the things they do here, but not a whole lot. It sounds like fun.
That's what I heard too. My brother called me last night after he called the track. He was told that it was advance tickets only, and that they sold out all 12,000 a while ago.
Holy Crap! I see where that event got it's name from.
I can't say it's the "coolest thing ever", but it was one of the most hilarious.
They started out with a few normal oval races, then had some guy jump his car THROUGH a mobile home (we missed that).
Then they had some figure 8 races, and played a game of "car football". They took a chevette sized car, painted it brown, and painted white laces on the top. There were 6 "Brars" cars and 6 "Packer" cars, and the object was to push the "ball" past the goal line.
After the game, they had a dragon come out and tear up one of the bear cars (lame).
There was a jet car demonstration too, with a jet powered ATV, Outhouse, and car.
The best, and funniest, event was the school bus fig. 8 race. These were full size busses on a track so small that they could hardly make the turns. Several got t-boned at the "X", and one even rolled twice and kept on going. Funniest damn thing I've ever seen.
The last race was the trailer race where each race car had a trailer of some sort. Pop-up campers, boats full of old tires, you name it. Last car with any remnants of a trailer still attached wins. By lap 3 half of the trailers didn't even have axles left on 'em. It was a riot.
Again, not the "coolest" thing I've ever seen, but funny as hell. Well worth the $12.
Sounds similar to the Tournament of Destruction at the race track in Jefferson. They have car bowling ( 55 gallon drums and the car runs backward into them) bubble races, trailer races, guatlet ( with a full size car, this year a surburban with guard rails) and the littel cars attack it as the person in the rear of car tosses flour, tomotos and sprays stuff, backwards, spin to win, spin in each straightaway.
for sure sounds like that is an event we need to attend next year--we heard about the event at kaukauna when we were on a ford truck poker run and went to the new dyno shop in Greenville.
There is one similar to that at 141 speedway near Francis Creek tonight. I am planning on going but not sure yet. Not as good as Eve of Destruction but is still cool.
