i have a 53 f-100 and i put my battery under the bed on the left hand side towards the cab. i have a tray that the bottom comes of and the battery comes out the bottom. not to much of a hassle if you need to charge it

 

Does anyone have a picture of the stock location?

I was going to do something else with mine and I had the welders cut the box off. It was pretty well rusted to hell so I tossed it. I'll need to fab one up.

 

If the 53 is in the same place as the 56, you can find a couple of pictures on Earl's World . I think they are on page 13.

My father first cut a notch in the inner fender well, so it would be like the modern cars. Up front. It rusted through.

Then we put it on a piece of 2"X2" welded to the frame, with a plate and hold down.
(see pic below, right side by fire wall). It was convient while we were working on it, but it looks like crap up there. Not to mention when it tipped over and spilled on my freshly painted engine.

I was thinking of hideing it under the truck. I'd like to put it in the stock box, but then I have the whole carpet thing to deal with when swapping. but like said above, how offten do you R&R your battery?
